Meghan Hopkins, Molly Moore and Ryka Verma were unveiled as finalists in this year’s awards, which recognise the people and venues shaping the future of golf.

“To have three female finalists from a Wolverhampton golf venue in a national awards is astounding,” comments owner of 3 Hammers Ian Bonser.  “As well as recognising their contribution to the sport it also shows how inclusive golf is in our region. Whether they win or lose Meghan, Molly and Ryka have already made us all incredibly proud.”

Verma, who is a finalist in the Young Volunteer of the Year, started her golf journey in 2017. Since then, her golf has gone from strength to strength, becoming the first female junior caption at South Staffordshire Golf Club.  Ryka has been recognised for her work supporting young golfers in the region. She recently won an award at the 3 Hammers for her fantastic attitude.  She is a dedicated fundraiser and works tirelessly to raise awareness of mental health issues.

Hopkins has been named as a finalist in the Women and Girls’ Trailblazer category. She joined 3 Hammers in October 2021 as a PGA Trainee Professional and has been championing the women’s and girl’s game ever since, recruiting girls from age 3 through to women in retirement.  She has been acknowledged for her inclusive approach to golf, in particular in bringing parents and siblings of players into the game by gently nurturing their interest.  She also works closely with the rising talent in the academy making sure that they receive all the support that they need.

Finally, PGA coach Molly Moore has been nominated in the same category. Molly spent 3 years at 3 Hammers upon completing her Applied Golf Management Degree at Birmingham University, before leaving to relocate after the pandemic.

“I’ve had the privilege to work with and mentor these pioneering young women over the last few years, and I am absolutely delighted that they have been recognised for their individual contributions,” comments 3 Hammers Golf Academy Director Rob Bluck.  “We wish them all the very best when the award winners are announced at England Golf’s centenary dinner in Manchester on February 13.”
