Starting golf can feel like a bit of a journey. You might begin by picking up a club at the driving range, learning the basics and gradually becoming more confident with your swing. But when is the right time to move from the driving range onto a golf course?
The answer is simple: there’s no set level you need to reach. If you’re comfortable holding a club, making contact with the ball and you’re ready to give it a go, you can start playing on a course.
Start by Building Confidence
The driving range is a great place to practise without the pressure of playing a full round. You can experiment with different clubs, work on your swing and get a feel for how far you hit the ball.
At 3 Hammers, our Driving Range also features InrangeĀ® ball tracking technology, allowing you to see your distances and ball flight while making your practice sessions more interactive.
You don’t need to hit every shot perfectly before moving onto the course. Golf is about learning as you play.
Try a Par 3 Course First
If you’re not quite ready for a longer golf course, a Par 3 course can be the perfect next step.
The 3 Hammers 15-hole Par 3 Course offers shorter holes, making it a great introduction to playing golf on a course. You’ll get to practise tee shots, approach shots and putting while learning how to keep score and navigate a course.
It’s also a great way to see how your driving range practice translates into playing.
What About Golf Lessons?
If you’re feeling unsure about your swing or simply want to improve your confidence, lessons can make a big difference.
The PGA Professionals at the 3 Hammers Academy can help beginners learn the fundamentals, from grip and setup through to swing technique and playing on the course.
A few lessons can give you the confidence to take your next step and enjoy your golf even more.
Don’t Worry About Being Perfect
One of the biggest mistakes beginners can make is waiting until they feel “good enough” to play.
You don’t need a perfect swing, a low handicap or years of experience. You just need to be willing to learn and enjoy yourself.
And if you’ve already enjoyed a round of Jurassic Creek Adventure Golf, you’re already familiar with some of the fun that comes from playing a golf-themed course. The driving range and Par 3 Course offer a natural next step when you’re ready to develop your game
further.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
Start with a few practice sessions at the 3 Hammers Driving Range, book a lesson if you’d like some guidance, and when you’re ready, head out onto the 15-hole Par 3 Course.
There’s no perfect time to make the move from the range to the course. If you’re ready to give it a go, you’re ready to start.
